Summer afternoons are relatively long and they become the longest when you have nothing to do. I am not an afternoon sleeper, so it feels like years if I am not doing anything in the afternoon. Sometimes I feel may be eating my lunch in a slow motion would do, but Nuh- Nuh- Nuh
Finally I got a solution to fritter away my time. I have started cleaning all the possible cupboards where I keep my stuff during the afternoons. If I say I clean them that means Literally -as If I am scared of Ayesha Mumtaz’s raid ;D
Well I recently did my makeup purge and took out a lot of things that I was hoarding on from so long and never ever used them.
Before taking them out and giving it to someone who actually needs them it was important to check their expiry dates. If there aint any expiry date mentioned it’s important to see how long we can actually keep those products.
I love lipsticks and they are the major chunk in my collection. Usually people keep lipsticks for like 2-3 years or unless they feel like throwing them away. Lipsticks should not be kept for more than a year. There might be a possibility of the lipstick being at the shop display from quite a while and then u buy it and keep it for a year. In that scenario you need to smell if the lipstick has changed how it used to smell then you need to throw it before even a year.
For liquid liners, gel liners or mascaras it’s wise to use them for 4-5 months. Mostly your mascara finishes by the end of your 3rd month. If you aren’t using your products more often it’s wise to buy these after every 5th month. Eyes are a very sensitive part of your body and one should not be careless about that.
For the Blush-on and bronzer it’s safe to use them for a little longer, probably for 18-20 months, usually they don’t expire that quickly. All we need to take care of is the temperature where you are keeping these things.
Lip-glosses usually leave a funny smell after sometime, and lip pencils can stay a bit longer. You can use
Your lip pencils for a year and a half while the lip glosses should be disposed after 6 to 8 months. If they still look fresh and the fragrance is still there then you get the leverage of a month or 2.
About the Nail polishes Team OPI says that you can use an open bottle of a nail polish for about 2 years. An unopened bottle can stay for Indefinite years 😀
As far as the foundations are concerned if they are cream based they will last for 18 months. After 18 months you have to through them *on a serious note* 🙂
For the eye shadows, you need to keep your applicators clean. Change them if they are older than a year. If your eye shadows are cream based they will last 12 months and if they are powder based it’s safe to use them for not more than 2 years.
I hope this will help you to take out all the extra junk you have kept in your makeup drawers
